Dead Men Make The Best Heroes.
A spy thriller set against the background of the Middle East conflict between the PLO and Israel in the mid 1970's.
Patrick Braun is a well respected commercial diver, but he is man with a dark secret. His past catches up with him after a lapse of twenty years when his name appears on an IRA suspect list and he comes to the attention of three intelligence agencies: MI 6, in London, Mossad in Tel Aviv and the PLO in Damascus.
He is honey trapped by a beautiful Arab girl into teaching a group of her friends how to dive while on a holiday in Cyprus. Only later does he find they are a PLO group planning to blow up a ship in Israel. Unknown to them, their every move is being tracked by agents from Mossad, the Israeli Secret Service.
The action moves swiftly between England, Bahrain, Cyprus, Lebanon, Damascus and Tel Aviv, with an explosive finish and a devious twist in the tail.

About the Author

Ex Sailor, musician, actor stunt man and saturation diving superintened. Now retired and living in Mallorca Spain. I Started writing in 1974 and sold three plays for UK TV but a divorce and work overseas meant I stopped sending workout but continued to write. I retired in 2010 and started a writers group. The enthusiasm of my members made me look at someof my own work. I now write full time and have published 8 books with another due out shortly.

Any book that delivers its first dead body in the first chapter brings intrigue to my mind. Dead Men doesn't disappoint. I knew by page two that this book was going to take me on one hell of a ride.
By the middle of chapter three, I knew I was reading a book by an author who is a master at describing the settings of his story. He brilliantly pulls his readers into the world where the characters live, a talent that he carries extremely well throughout the entire book.

They move between London Bahrain Cyprus Syria and Israel with facility taken the readers with them. I enjoyed the whole story without being able to put it down until the end.-

E. Van Johnson was able to convey why each side was taking the risks that they were taking and what their true intentions were. I find it a rare thing for an author to be able to be sympathetic in these types of novels to both sides of the war and I found the manner in which the story, and the struggles, of both sides refreshing.
