King Alaron woke up one morning, walked out onto the balcony of his royal palace, and looked down at his kingdom, the fortress city of Erifield. He watched as the people went about their lives, fully mindful of how he has been charged with leading and protecting them. He could not be more proud of how Erifield had prospered under his care, but painful memories lurked in the back of his mind. 2 years before, his beloved wife Cassandra, already mother of his 15 year old son Alarik, died tragically just after giving birth to his precious daughter, Arabeth. He had been battling depression since that terrible day and had grown increasingly distant from his son, Alarik. Little did Alaron know that his son was being led astray by a mysterious man named Modric, who possessed dark knowledge of powerful creatures known as the Nightmares. Modric had been craftily fueling Alarik's ambitions in an effort to convince him to overthrow his father. Will Alarik hold to what he knows is right, or will he succumb to darkness and use the Nightmares to establish his own kingdom?
