About the Author

Andrea Diem-Lane is a Professor of Philosophy at Mt. San Antonio College. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studied under Professor Ninian Smart. Dr. Diem received her B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, in Psychology where she served as a Research Assistant to Professor Ramachandran on visual perception and brain function. Professor Diem is the author of several books, including The Gnostic Mystery and When Scholars Study the Sacred. Dr. Diem is married to Dr. David Lane, with whom she has two sons, Shaun-Michael and Kelly-Joseph. Professor Diem is an avid surfer and is currently working on a new book entitled, Surfing in the Cerebral Hemispheres.
