Overview

The town of Terravis seemed darker than normal in Mount Pyrrhus's shadow as Colby made his way through the cobblestone lined streets. Holding tight to his tattered cloak, while the wind threatened to rip it from him. As the only town on the small Island of Ida, the people there were cut off from the rest of Caelius and any help it could offer.

The chilled air blew down the mountain incline, whipping through the vacant buildings, pushing around the glass shards from broken windows. A ghostly howl echoing through the ruins.

After a long day in the mines all Colby wished to do was go home, recuperate, and ready his mind for the next day. Endlessly digging in the small, overcrowded mines for Lord Carnac would never sit right with him.

What can I do though?

His body was already covered in bruises and scars from his attempts to interfere with the soldiers.

The Dragon Lord Carnac, with his minion General Vladimir, never gave an inch when it came to mining for his treasure. At least the townsfolk assumed it was a treasure of some kind. No one ever discussed what it was they were digging for. None tempted to ask for fear of the consequences for questioning Lord Carnac.

Taking it one day at a time was all Colby could do. He had made too many promises to himself, and others, to protect them to ascend the mountainside. Journeying up to the soldier encampment, or past to the dragon's lair would be suicide. Where would those who rely on me be then? So a drink each night, an attempt to tame the anger rippling deep in his gut, was his vice. Unfortunately this was not the plan this night.

Sickness was a death sentence on Ida. Everyone knew it. With Sable fading further each day, Gunner's summons in the early afternoon could only mean one thing.

What would Gunner and Asha do? Could he keep them safe when he himself was so reckless? Colby had yet to return to the house since he had argued with Sable months prior. As he made his way to the small building where he was raised, their argument ran on a continuous loop through his head. So many things had been said in rage. Things neither of them had meant. Things he had thought there would be time to take back.

Sable was the only mother he could remember.

She had given him a home.

A family.

Gunner's words changed everything in an instant.

Quickening his steps, Colby hurried towards the termite infested door and knocked.

IN A WORLD RULED BY FEAR AND PUNISHMENT, WHO WOULD DARE TO STAND AGAINST THE DRAGON ARMY?

On an island cut off from the rest of the world, the people of Ida live in a never ending gloom under the Dragon Lord's reign. Though when a tiger cub stumbles into the path of a town miner, Colby is thrown into a series of events he never could have imagined.

With the help of some friends and an unexpected ally, Colby fights to find a light in the overwhelming darkness surrounding them.

As a girl she used the genre as an escape from the realities of the real world. So, naturally, when she began writing stories of her own, this was the genre which held her heart and captivated her dreams
