About the Author

I was born in Chaddesden I was a poor learner at school eventually teaching myself to read at around eight years of age. On leaving Spondon Secondary School, I served an apprenticeship as a mechanic at Sanderson & Holmes in Derby. After serving my apprenticeship,
I obtained a job as a fitter at Rolls Royce. I Met and married my Anne and together we lived and worked in South Africa. Canada and New York during the summers of 67/68 we managed fly in fishing/hunting lodge’s in the northern Canadian bush. We hold dual British & Canadian citizenship.
I love a challenge and like to take the fork in the road. We have travelled Canada coast to coast. Up and down most of the major highways of western Canada from the Great Slave Lake to Victoria, just to following the fork. Growing up listening to the shipping forecast, I used to try to imagine the places around our coast and so over a two-year spell set out with my Anne and travelled the whole coastline of Great Britain the isle of white Ireland and the Isle of Sky.
My first adventures around Chado and Breadsall expanded to a bus ride to Ashbourn with a bunch of kids from our street from Ashbourn we walked to one of the most magical places
I know even with all the places I have visited Dovdale is and will always be my favourite place.
I worked for a number of years for Canadian Pacific my job was changed and it meant a move from Calgary.
I opted to take a package our sons where established Canadians Anne and I decided we would return to the UK and perhaps run a pub on the coast. we ended up owning a village post office. That is until the government closures. I always take the approach that things happen for a reason.

Our eldest son and his family live in Calgary our youngest son and our new grandson live in Toronto we converted the shop into a house sold it and moved back to Canada a few weeks ago. A zillion things have happened during my search for the next adventure but where to start and who to bore? I enjoy writing.
