About the Author

Ross Gordon was born and grew up in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, to farming parents. He migrated with his family to Australia following eviction from the family farm in 2004.
Ross is married to Carolyn; they have 3 grown daughters and now live in the Huon Valley of Tasmania - apple and cherry country, where Ross is a commercial beekeeper.

I loved this book, right from the first paragraph. Gordon takes you in to his childhood, as though you're walking along side of him.
Witty and funny, Gordon's observations of life growing up in Zimbabwe are heartbreakingly innocent, knowing what was to come for the country.
This is an exceptionally well written book, if a little slow in places for me but the story is about love, family and hope.

The thread of dry humour throughout the book provided amusement in between the true anecdotes of the transition of Rhodesia to Zimbabwe. The blunt honesty throughout the book is testament to the author's character. I do not think people in the free world comprehend how such injustices happen.
