When Damian was first diagnosed and I was trying to explain to him what type 1 was I found myself not understanding how to I was barley understanding it myself so how do I explain it to a 3 year old. The library I told myself the library will have a kid friendly book to help him understand type 1 diabetes. Unfortunately at the time there was nothing and we left feeling defeated and still not knowing how to explain to him what was going on. At 3 Damian was into bed time stories and I wanted so bad to find a bed time story that was a positive look on type 1 so I decided I would write him my own, which I did and read it to him every night. For years I talked about how amazing it would be to publish the book I looked into it but honestly had no idea where to start so it just became a dream that I never thought possible until today. To be able to give newly diagnosed families the gift of what this book meant to Damian is just something I'm very thankful for and I hope it gives families the glimpse of hope it gave us.
