About the Author

Bill was born in the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 1947. He was educated at University of Queensland and Queensland Institute of Technology, awarded an Engineering Degree and a Post Grad Business Admin Diploma.

Carolyn was born in Brisbane, 1951. She received an Arts Degree and an Educational Studies Degree at UQ, as well as a Master of Letters Degree from University of New England, New South Wales.

Carolyn worked for the Queensland Education Depart as a secondary school teacher and Subject Coordinator.

Bill worked for Queensland Railways as a metallurgist and became Foundry Engineer.

The two met while ballroom dancing and married in 1973.

In 1980 they moved to Sydney for ten years. Bill continued management in two industries, multiwall paper sacks and paint. Carolyn became Curriculum Coordinator at Kogarah Marist and moved to Kambala as Deputy Principal.

Many nights were spent extending their education – Bill in safety management and Carolyn, religious studies/education.

Carolyn’s promotion to Principal of Clayfield College returned them to Brisbane in 1991. She served on numerous educational, charitable and anti-drug bodies while gaining further qualifications at Harvard School of Business and the University of Malta (with Edward de Bono). Carolyn retired at the end of 2006 and was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her services to education and community.

Bill’s management career continued with Akzo Nobel. He worked in Asia Pacific, improving the quality of goods/services at paint businesses. Bill retired September 2006.

Their first book DA BEST Little Town in the West, Blackall was published in 2011 by Zeus Publications.

DA BEST Holiday of a Lifetime is their first eBook. It is a work of far greater scope and they hope it will become popular on both sides of the Pacific.
