This is an exciting new book describing state-of-the-art cancer therapy written from a multidisciplinary approach. It incorporates contributions from a variety of leaders in the field of oncology. This purpose is to present information regarding the therapeutic agents in current use in oncology, protocols relevant to each of the malignant diseases, and the supportive care required to deliver these therapies from an interdisciplinary perspective for use in clinical decision-making. These are admirable goals, and the book largely meets its objectives. This book is targeted for oncologists (medical, radiation, and surgical) and fellowship trainees for use as a practical reference in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Oncologic nurses, pharmacists, and physician assistants will also benefit from this resource. The authors contributing to this book are generally well known and respected in their disciplines. This book's format is unique; an initial chapter giving an overview of a topic is followed by single page outlines detailing information about specific drugs, treatment protocols, or supportive care. The references are current, and there are many useful tables, charts, figures, and illustrations. This is a useful book for clinical decision-making for oncologists, fellows, and oncology support staff. It is clinically oriented, practical, and concise. It will help bring the most current therapies and supportive care to the bedside.
