Cunningham and Other Pigs I Have Known is a hilarious collection of short stories about pigs. The author, Emory Jones, draws from his own experiences with real pigs from his days on the farm and as an active member of the Future Farmers of America.
More importantly, he draws on his vivid imagination and lively sense of humor.
Emory's imaginary pet pig, Cunningham, steals the show as this "cunning" pig takes art lessons, travels to places like Washington, DC, Rock City and Churchill Downs. Cunningham even joins a book club, acts in a play, takes an airplane ride and almost becomes the grand marshal of Helen, Georgia's Octoberfest parade.

About the Author

Emory Jones grew up on a farm in White County, Georgia. After a stint in the Air Force, he joined Gold Kist Inc. as publications manager. He has been the Southeastern editor for Farm Journal Magazine and executive vice president at Freebairn & Company, an Atlantabased advertising agency where he managed the firm’s agricultural accounts.
During his career, Emory interviewed and photographed farmers in all fifty states and had articles published in numerous US farm publications.
He has written seven other books, including: White County 101; Distant Voices—The Story of the Nacoochee Valley Indian Mound; Heart of a Co-op—The HEMC Story; Zipping Through Georgia on a Goat-Powered Time Machine; Helen 101; and Memories Etched in Pott’ry, a creative memoir set in his Great Uncle Cheever Meaders’ pottery shop in 1958.
Emory’s first novel, The Valley Where They Danced, takes place in the Northeast Georgia mountains just after WWI.
Two of his books, The Valley Where They Danced and Memories Etched in Pott’ry, have been made into plays and performed in Northeast Georgia theaters. Two other plays are in the works.
Emory sits on the board of the White County Historical Society and is an avid folk pottery collector. He and his wife, Judy, and cat, Rowdy Yates, live on Yonah Mountain in White County, Georgia.
And—I almost forgot—he has an Agricultural Journalism Degree from the University of Georgia.
