Inland Fish Marketing in India covers all aspects of this important subject. Fish seed requirements are analysed exhaustively and a number of recommendations provided. Following this the study examines the p?esent status of fish ponds, culture practices and infrastructure facilities for fresh water culture fisheries with suggestions for further development. Reservoir fisheries are then dealt with in two separate parts: in one the current situation is reviewed and the various sub-systems analysed; the second part gives case studies of selected reservoirs and offers recommendations in each area. Riverine capture fishery is considered next in respect of the economics of fish production and marketing along with infrastructural facilities. Suggestions cover pollution control and artificial breeding grounds. The study on brackish water culture examines, among other things, the level of technology, the economics of such fisheries, market flows, infrastructure and investment opportunities. Case studies on lakes and swamps are given with a number of recommendations. The last two volumes analyse markets of different kinds along with a review of the specific roles of cooperatives and corporations relating to the sample centres studied. Availability of data for planning and control tasks in various fishery sub-systems arc looked at and assessed. Finally, the recommendations on data base highlight the need for strengthening it and for standardization of terminologies. This set of volumes is part of a series of studies undertaken by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad which is intended to comprehensively cover all aspects of fish marketing in India. Patil, Professor of Agronomy and Head, Department of Natural Resource Management, College of Horticulture, UHS Campus, GKVK, Bengaluru, was born on 01.06.1969 in Gulbarga District, Karnataka, India. He obtained his B.Sc.(Agri.) degree from College of Agriculture, Raichur in 1991, M.Sc. (Agri.) and Ph.D in Agronomy from UAS, Dharwad in 1994 and 2011 respectively, and PGDAEM from Manage Hyderabad in 2014. He has published about 72 scientific full-length papers in National and International Journals, 30 papers presented in National and International Symposium, and 7 books. Awards: Best Farm Superintendent Award, UAS, Bangalore, 2005; Fellow of Hind Agri-Horticultural Society (FHAS), Muzaffarnagar (U.P.), 2011; Best Agricultural Scientist, Shree Llingaraj vividoddesh sasanshte (R) Bharatinagar, Dharwad, 2014; Out Standing Faculty in Agronomy, Venus International Foundation, Centre for Advanced Research and Design, Chennai, 2015; Dr. S.B. Dr. G.R. Rajakumar, Scientist (Soil Science), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Haveri district, born on 28.05.1968 in Chitradurga, Karnataka, India. He has completed B.Sc. (Agri.) from College of Agriculture, Raichur, Karnataka during the year 1991, M.Sc. (Agri) in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry from UAS, Dharwad, Karnataka during the year 1994 and Ph.D in Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry from UAS, Dharwad during the year 2000 with good academic records. He has undergone National training on Soil Health Management at JNKVV, Jabalpur during the year 2014. He has an experience for over 18 years in teaching (College/ KVK)/research (ARS/College/KVK/NGOs) and extension (KVK/College/NGOs). He has published 21 scientific full-length papers in National and International Journals as author/co-author, and 8 papers presented in Symposium as author/co-author, written 3 books and 28 popular articles and involved as co-principal investigator in 3 technologies included package of practices book of UAS Dharwad.
