CHAPTER 1

Why play Las Vegas CROXDIE

Because it is versatile.

When CROXDIE is played by an individual, it is a puzzle called ALONE.

When played by two opponents, it is an intriguing betting game called DUEL.

When played by two numero unos, it is a double-or-nothing betting game called DUELIST.

When played by three to six players, it is a survival betting game called DONNYBROOK.

Every action of this game is different and set by chance upon the roll of a die.

In the CROXDIE game, the player is compelled to exercise his audacity to double the ante, his intuition to foresee future actions, and his intellectual ability to enter the numbers on the open positions the CROXDIE board.

CROXDIE is a numerical puzzle, played by rolling one die and entering the number from 1 to 6 in the CROXDIE board.

To learn how to play, first, be familiar with the board, pages 6 and 7; for action, see page 10.

ALONE

HOW A PLAYER PRACTICES THE GAME ALONE

What is needed?

* A die

* A CROXDIE board (see next page)

* A writing instrument

* REGULATIONS AND RULES

[check] The puzzle is solved when the four columns, four rows, and eight boxes of the CROXDIE board contain the numbers from 1 to 6 and not necessarily in a numerical order.

[check] The player can erase, reposition, or switch numbers to solve the puzzle.

* PENALTIES

[check] Erasing, repositioning, or switching a number to solve the CROXDIE puzzle is an error and is counted as one error per action.

HOW TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE

After the puzzle is set, the player stops rolling the die and solves the puzzle by filling the open positions of the CROXDIE board with single numbers, in a manner that the four columns, four rows, and eight boxes contain the numbers from 1 to 6, not necessarily in a numerical order.

The ultimate Las Vegas CROXDIE player does not make errors.

PLAYING THE GAME!

* Set the puzzle.

* Roll the die twelve times, and at the roll, enter the single digit in any open position in the CROXDIE board.

* Solve the puzzle!

DUEL

DUEL is a betting game for two opponents.

DUEL is a Las Vegas CROXDIE game of deception where players might use subterfuge in placing entries on the CROXDIE board.

* REGULATIONS AND RULES

[check] Players bankroll themselves.

[check] Players can bet by doubling the ante at any moment before the roll of a die and must feed the pot after the die roll.

[check] If the player does not pay the ante or the bet, he loses the game and forfeits the pot.

* THE ANTE AND THE POT

[check] ANTE—amount to be added to the pot, after the first die roll at a turn. Paying the ante is mandatory after the first die roll of a turn, and it is equal to the die roll number, multiplied by the unit value established by the player (for example, one cent or one dollar per one unit).

[check] POT—the total amount bet in the game.
