Cross of the Ghost Friar
With Van Courtland Park still fresh in his memory, Dr. Trevor Knight returns to UCSF and a budding relationship with Susan Hoo, seeking normalcy and peace.
However, peace is a fleeting thing, and soon, he is requested to assist the Director of Indian Affairs in the solving of a most bizarre and evil ritualist string of killings.
Putting his relationship on hold, Knight heads to the desert regions of Arizona and the Indian reservations.
The evil that has manifested itself has claimed twenty lives, with more anticipated.
Local law enforcement is helpless to stop it and the intense fear gripping the residents of the reservations only serves to limit the solving of the terror taking place.
Dr. Trevor Knight has been called to profile the demon that roams the Arizona nights.
With the help of his crime-solving grandmother and an entity whose power comes from an ancient relic close to Knight, it is only a matter of time until once again, evil meets it end.
In addition, the Ghost Friar that presented in the Bronx and blessed the wooden cross, reclaims what is rightfully his.

About the Author

Joseph R. Lange was born on March 20, 1954. One of ten children, five sisters, and four brothers, he grew up in Owen, Wisconsin, and then at the age of ten moved to Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
Growing up east of “Smallville” he spent his days trying to be a mountain man where there were no mountains. Hunting and trapping in areas now occupied by buildings. Memories only remain of the adventures in the deep forest, now forever gone.
BB gun fights and Bonger hits. God, the adventures he had.
Many an adventure was shared with his younger brother James who is mentioned “a few times” in the Thoughts trilogy: Thoughts from a Treestand, Wisdom’s Harvest-East of Smallville, and Contemplations: Through the Fog of My Life.
The Misophonic Murders, the first of the Dr. Trevor Knight murder mysteries, was soon followed by The Portland Autopsies, Heartless in the Bronx, and The Cross of the Ghost Friar.
Thoughts, Moments and Memories is a return to some of his favorites from fifty years of observing God’s wonders held deep within the forest and woodlots of Wisconsin.
Many occupations were had in his life. Gas station worker, construction worker, taxidermist, electrician, truck driver, deputy sheriff, facilities manager, security supervisor, and facilities director for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic. He retired as systems director of facilities and maintenance for the Marshfield Clinic Health Systems.
He is married to Michelle and has two wonderful daughters, Helen and Krissy.
God gave him four grandsons: Trevor, Tanner, Jack, and Joseph.
What the love and encouragement of a mother can do for a young man trying to find his way without a penny in his pocket.
If you get anything from reading these memories of these by gone times, understand how short life is and what truly matters.
And more importantly…what does not.
