About the Author

Maurice F. Parmelee (1882-1969) was professor of sociology at the City College of New York and the author of thirteen books, including the first American text on criminology and The New Gymnosophy. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, he was the founder and honorary president of the American Gymnosophical Association. A staunch supporter of nudism, he wrote the first English language book on the subject.
