About the Author

Rahima Sanders is an Advocate and Volunteer with NAMI MN (National Alliance on Mental Illness) wherein she has served on the Board of Directors, Criminal Justice Committee, African American Advisory Committee, and Sharing Hope Committee. She is currently a Facilitator for NAMI's Family Support Group for families with a family member living with a mental illness. She has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She uses her knowledge and experience as a Criminal Justice Mental Health Consultant to help others. Most important of all, she is a devoted Mother, who advocates on behalf of and supports her son, who was diagnosed in 2009 with a dual mental illness.
