About the Author

Leslie W. Kennedy is University Professor of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University. He is also the Director of the Rutgers Center on Public Security. Dr. Kennedy’s current research in public security builds upon his previous research in event analysis and understanding the social contexts in which hazards to society are identified and deterred.

Edmund F. McGarrell is Professor and Director of the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. Dr. McGarrell co-chairs the Michigan State University Risk Research Initiative: Risk, Values, and Decisions. In this role, he is collaborating with faculty from a variety of fields in research on environmental and natural resource crime, supply chain security, and law enforcement intelligence.
