About the Author

Xinyi Christine Zhang is a senior at South Brunswick High School (Class of 2023), where she leads her school's Science Olympiad team. Her interests center around neuroscience, bioengineering, visual art, and their intersection. Her scientific achievements include being named an MIT THINK Scholar, NJ Governor's School in the Science Scholar, and NJ Governor's STEM Scholar. Her artistic work has been recognized on the national level by the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition, the Academic Medicine Journal, and The Washington Post. She designed, drew the diagrams, and wrote detailed captions for this book to bolster her passion for medical illustration. ?

Sagarika Laha is a junior at West Windsor Plainsboro High School North (Class of 2024). Her interests include neuroscience, biochemistry, and music. She has completed three online neuroscience courses from Harvard University through edX. She has played the violin for eight years and performs in the Chamber Orchestra at her school. At school, she is a member of her Med-Forum club and has qualified for the state-level competition in the Health Occupations Students of America club. Currently, she is employed at her local clinic, where she assists physicians and is a patient ambassador. She is also multilingual and speaks four languages. Her contribution, among many others, was to provide details to diagrams in this book.?
