The writings of the prophets Joel, Amos, and Isaiah were accomplished in the 8th and 7th centuries before Christ, during a time when the divided nation of Israel was facing some difficult situations. According to the Scripture, many of these difficulties were brought on by the idolatry and sinfulness of the Israelites themselves. God judged them in a series of events which were far more extensive than a casual reading of the Scripture would imply - unless one has an understanding of the history related to that time period. This paper has been prepared to show that a complete understanding and correlation of many of these prophetic writings is not possible without taking into account three well-documented catastrophic events which occurred as a direct result of God's pronounced judgments. It is not the intent of this paper to try to prove these events, but to acknowledge that they did occur and to use them in tying together the related Scripture from these prophets.
