About the Author

Dr. Cora Bragg Thompson has dedicated over 40 years to the field of education, fostering a passion for teaching and preparing future educators to be effective teachers with a strong emphasis on literacy. She holds a B.S.Ed in Elementary Education, a Master's degree, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Dr. Thompson has earned several endorsements, including Reading, Gifted, and Teacher Support, and is a Quality Matters Certified Peer Reviewer.Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Thompson has served as a classroom teacher, ELA resource teacher, and differentiation specialist. She is currently an Associate Professor and the Dean for the College of Education at Savannah State University, herundergraduate alma mater.Dr. Thompson is the proud mother of three children and grandmother to Kiara, Savannah, and Ki'Loni, who all share her love for books. Inspired to write this book after the loss of her beloved pet, Angel, to kidney disease, Dr. Thompson aims to use this story as a tool to teach reading skills to young readers. Through her writing, she continues to share her dedication to education and literacy, ensuring that her passion touches the lives of many more children.
Kiera Renee Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Savannah State University. Kiera is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She has known Dr. Thompson for a long time and is one of her mentees in the sorority. She has also known Dr. Thompson's beloved Angel for a very long time. Kiera's love for Dr. Thompson and Angel made her happy to contribute illustrations for the book. Kiera cherishes Angel's memories and friendship. She was determined to bring Dr. Thompson's treasured memories of Angel to life for all to enjoy. Kiera is a graduate student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, pursuing a master's degree in fine arts focusing on drawing and painting. Her goals are to work as a university visual art professor and produce joyful and uplifting artwork for all ages.
