This book is a series of essays, commentaries, and observations by the author during a 13-month project consulting with banks in the post-Soviet republic of Azerbaijan. The project was the author's first business venture outside of the U.S. As with most Americans, he was substantially unprepared for the cultural differences and norms, and absolutely astounded by the history and peoples he encountered. It would be hard to imagine a richer experience, especially observing the author's changing attitudes and understanding as interaction with local residents increases.

About the Author

This book is the author's first venture into formal writing. He comes to it after a 30+ year career in marketing, covering commercial banking in several states plus owning his strategic marketing consulting company since 1997. In addition to consulting, he currently teaches in two universities, concentrating on Strategic Marketing, Internet Marketing, International Marketing, and similar courses.

With luck, there will be many more international ventures and commentaries in the years to come.
