Washington Irving (April 3, 1783 – November 28, 1859) was an American short-story writer, essayist, biographer, historian, and diplomat of the early 19th century. He is best known for his short stories "Rip Van Winkle" (1819) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820), both of which appear in his collection The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. His historical works include biographies of Oliver Goldsmith, Muhammad and George Washington, as well as several histories of 15th-century Spain that deal with subjects such as Alhambra, Christopher Columbus and the Moors. Irving served as American ambassador to Spain in the 1840s.
Conquest of Granada was written by Washington Irving. First published in 1850, this acclaimed classic describes the struggle of Castilian sovereigns Ferdinand and Isabella against the Moors of the Kingdom of Granada, leading to the Conquest in 1492. The story is based on the fragmentary remains of Fray Antonio Agapida's contemporary chronicles and other historical documents.

Translator Zoe was raised in a foster house where they used to read different books for bedtime. Slowly that became her profession. Born in late 60s, her whole life was devoted to book of all kinds and culture. Later she saw so much vast emotions in other books she began translating all the books she could find in Dutch.
