About the Author

Rachel Swyhart was born in Sparta, New Jersey, and moved to Virginia when she was five years old in the year 2000. For 20 years her home base has been the mountains, the suburbs, and the city. She attended Ferrum College from 2013-2018 as an English and Russian major, and with a minor in studio art. An artist, musician, vocalist, poet, and author, she's managed to accomplish quite a lot by procrastinating a different project every week for years. She highly recommends this approach to hobbies. "I got so good at ignoring my artwork that I wrote a whole book," Rachel said once. "I've done it three times - I'm doing it right now. My fourth book is halfway finished." She takes a sidelong glance at her sketchbook. There's an ugly drawing of an anime character in it. "It's just great. I get a lot done." Rachel is single and a hopeless romantic. She really doesn't like gender, but was quoted saying, "Everyone else does, I guess, and that's fine." What a pushover. She finished her first book her senior year of high school, she wrote this one in 3 months, her second one took two years, and her fourth is taking way longer than that. When the mood strikes, Rachel quote just says, "I just go with it, or whatever. Stuff like writing every day or putting pressure on yourself for perfection is a bad way to get a book going. If you're passionate about it, focus. If you need a break, take one. Before you know it, you'll be done - just remember to brainstorm an ending the whole time, and learn to stick to it, or else you'll never get there." Rachel is 25 now. Yes, she managed to live that long. No one knows how. She's procrastinating her book right now by drawing ugly anime characters. There she goes. What a loser.
