About the Author

Roderick Fraser grew up in Millinocket and East Millinocket, Maine, and is an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman as well as a snowmobile enthusiast. Rod is a contributing writer for American Snowmobiler magazine as well as the Northwoods Sporting Journal. He is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, the University of Rhode Island and the U.S. Naval War College. Rod spent 20 years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and was the Commanding Officer of USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36) during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After retiring from the Navy, Rod was appointed as the 37th Commissioner of the Boston Fire Department and lead the Department through Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Sandy, Winter Storm Nemo, and the Boston Marathon Terrorist Bombing. Rod is currently the Vice President Of Sales for a major defense industry company and lives in Boston with his family.
