Description: These are very graphic lessons in the complications that may arise as a result of performing laser surgery. The chapters discuss the complications and reasons for different laser systems. The majority of the book is color photographs.
Purpose: The purpose is to educate laser surgeons in the complications of laser. The early potential danger signs are discussed, the time course of infection, scarring, dyspigmentation, etc. occurring and how to recognize them clinically.
Audience: The audience is physicians performing or planning to perform laser procedures in their practice.
Features: Now Dr. Goldberg needs to publish the obvious sequel to this book — how to treat the complications that can arise from laser surgery. There are numerous photographs documenting different scars, and the evolution of potential adverse changes in the skin.
Assessment: This book is useful for its illustrations. The discussions on the mechanisms on why particular complications arise are educational. I would recommend you read this book first before one of the "how to do" laser introductory textbooks. It will give you a sense of respect and caution for using lasers.
