About the Author

BRYAN SAMAIN, author of 'Commando Men' (first published in 1948, new edition just published),started his career in Fleet Street newspaper journalism. He served in WW2 in Normandy, Holland and Germany with two Royal Marines Commando units, Nos. 45 and 46 Commandos (both part of First Commando Brigade), principally as Intelligence Officer of 45 RM Commando. He also served with '45' in Hong Kong in 1946, helping to restore law and order in the then newly re-occupied British Colony. He resumed his journalistic career following demobilisation in 1946. Two years later he entered the industrial PR and publicity field, working over a period of 35 years for several leading companies, notably, British Steel, Ford and EMI. He has written several memoirs, including 'Personal Encounters' (first published in 2000) and now lives in retirement in Suffolk.
