Commander Battle and the Atomic Sub #4
Commander Battle and the Atomic Sub - An Introduction
Welcome to Commander Battle and the Atomic Sub #4. A digitized version of the Golden Age Comic from 1954.
The first issue just missed the boat, so to speak, as the world's first nuclear powered submarine, USS Nautilus, was launched a few months before the issue hit the newsstands. There were, however, major differences. Battle's atomic sub was home to the Atomic Commandos, consisting of Battle himself and his three hand picked men, Dr. Edwin Blake (Doc), David B. Ruggles (Champ) and Tony Gardello (Gardello the Great). They were the sub's crew and the rest of the sub was completely automated! President Eisenhower commissioned the Atomic Sub and the Atomic Commandos to fight the menacing flying saucers that were suspected of being Soviet in origin.
Much like the famous Seaview of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, the Atomic Sub came with various gadgets and vehicles to help her commandos accomplish their missions. She was able to launch both a Gyrocopter and a VTOL aircraft similar to the POGO Test Aircraft of the time period.
This is a digitized issue of the public domain comic series created by Richard Hughes and Sheldon Moldoff for ACG (American Comics Group) in 1954. Enjoy!
NOTE: This epub is compatible with the Nook Color and Nook Color Tablet. Because of its graphic image sizes, it will not display correctly on the Nook for PC or Android apps.
