They discussed the contract for the next hour, and it was nearly three in the afternoon by the time he left her room. He walked down the hall and then thought of something, he didn’t have enough money to take a cab so he would have to ride the subway again. It was time to swallow his pride and ask for some money from his client. He went back and knocked on her door.
His face reddened and he was embarrassed but begging for money seemed to be the norm for him these days. She pulled out a hundred-dollar bill and handed it to him and told him that she’d give him some more, but she had to stop by the bank first. It was more than enough for now and he was feeling better went he walked out the front door of the hotel and had the doorman hail him a cab.
