About the Author

Hello! My name is Catherine Basten, author and illustrator for three children's books, titled Tiny Wings, Come and walk with me, and  Animal Tales, and Trivia. 
 
My friends would describe me as a Nana, Artist, Illustrator, and Craftsman, Community Volunteer but mainly concentrating on being a strong advocate in educating on caring for our natural environment. 
 
Living in the Midwest taught me that nature is full of precious gifts, with endless natural materials. Hiking enabled me to listen to the wind whistling through the trees, birds singing their sweet songs, and insects humming around searching for food. Suddenly realizing nature not only provides us with so many wondrous gifts, but it also teaches us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Where do animals and insects live through each season? While searching for answers, the idea of writing and illustrating a children's book evolved and later became a reality. Every illustration painted depicts that animal realistically, allowing for future identification.
 
All life has a purpose. Finding a purpose in life and then acting upon, provides a sense of direction and importance. Each simple lesson in life provides us with a lifetime of knowledge, and spending time with family is precious. Through each book, I hope to inspire family memories and encourage respect and preservation of our forest and all that inhabits it.
