Overview

This metamorphic autobiographical collection entails the haunting and raw interpretations of the author and her life. The tale of darkness breaking free from the chains that life wrapped her in from a very young age. Poems focus on emotional turmoil and triumph with comparisons of the complexities of the earth and cosmos. All works in this book reflect the intricate nature of the human soul. We come in many colors and reflect and refract the world around us. This journey is one of transformation and of coming out of the darkness into the light. It is one of inspiration for those lost and afraid to step out and find peace in the world around them despite chaotic and sometimes tragic circumstances. Change can be terrifying if we don't have any idea what is on the other side. Breaking into that world is painful and disillusioning. We have to be brave enough to try.

Jami Waters is a social worker from Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is married with 4 boys
to her second husband Brandon J. Waters. She describes Brandon as her soulmate, and he
is much of the inspiration for Illumination chapter in the book. She lives in the rural areas
of York County, South Carolina and spends much or her time helping others and working
with children and families when she is not spending time with family and her many pets
which include dogs and chickens. She graduated from Concord University with a master’s
in social work in 2014 and continues her education daily to ensure she is able to help as
many people as possible. She will say she has never met a child she did not love and she
has never met a challenge she could not overcome even when there are moments where
she may feel that way. Jami strives to make a positive change in this world.
