About the Author

Phyllis Perry grew up in Grass Valley, a small gold-mining town in northern California. She attended the University of California - Berkeley, where she earned a BA in English Literature with a minor in History. She taught in an elementary school of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and earned her master's degree in Education from San Francisco State University. During this time, she was close enough to feel the tremors of two of California's earthquakes. Phyllis and her family moved to Boulder, Colorado where her husband joined the faculty and earned her doctorate in Education at the University of Colorado. Phyllis worked for twenty years in the Boulder Valley Schools as a teacher, building principal, and director of talented & gifted education. Phyllis took early retirement from the school district to write full-time. She is an award-winning author of fiction and nonfiction for both children and adults (95 in total) and is a member of the Colorado Authors' League and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
