Overview

The North American Colonies.

The great nations of Europe struggle for control of the New World. Native Americans struggle for their land and their lives. Planters and traders struggle for wealth and position. A new nation struggles to be born.

But look beneath the surface.

Monsters stalk the woods. Angry ghosts and spiteful witches plague the villagers. Explorers search for lost cities and fabled treasures. Ancient evils are awakened.

There is a secret history, and this history deals with events that took place in the shadows. These events played a role in the history of the American colonies and the Revolution that few know about.

The truth is hidden, and plots are afoot. Events are moving behind the scenes, and lurking in the shadows are agents with their own agenda.

War is coming.

The Siege of Boston is lifted, and General Washington is leading the Continental Army to New York. The enemies are many, but as to who they are, you do not know.

Colonial Gothic is a supernatural historical horror roleplaying game set during the dawn of the American Revolution.

This Second Edition rulebook is fully compatible with all previous Colonial Gothic adventures and sourcebooks.

About the Author

Born in Connecticut, Richard has lived in such far flung and exotic locales as Pocatello, Idaho and Mauston, Wisconsin.

Richard was once a librarian, and has come a long way from the days when he was the librarian for Harley-Davidson. He spent the first part of his career as a law librarian and worked for two Chicago law firms where he learned a lot about law and law firm culture. This is what drove him to the halls of academia. It was academia which drove him out of the profession, and he now works as a graphic designer, game designer and writer.

Since 1996 Richard has been a freelance writer and designer and has written for Atlas Games, Guardians of Order, Hogshead Publishing, and Zeitgeist Games (just to name a few). In addition he designed two card games (Geek Wars: Battle for the Con and World Championship Dodge Ball) for Goodman Games. At one point he was the Director of Traditional Games for Zeitgeist Games. Now he owns and runs Rogue Games which publishes the historical supernatural horror game Colonial Gothic, and the humanist pulp fantasy game Shadow, Sword & Spell.

Currently living in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, three cats and library of books. When not writing in the third-person Richard owns and runs Wandering Wizard Designs, a design house specializing in book design and eBook creation.
