COLD HIGHWAYS BOOK ONE: THE DEAD

The Plateaus are a wasteland, a place where things go to be forgotten... It is nearly five years since the accident that claimed Tristen's life and now, like so many others, he is searching for a way back to those has he left behind. Trapped in a world no better than hell itself, the people of Shrive have lost all but the faintest hope. Only Tristen is brave enough to leave the safety of their city and head into the wilderness beyond, taking with him two men - One: a trusted friend, the other: a stranger known only as the Tracer.
In the ruins that await, it is their endeavour to find some small shred of salvation. Or perhaps even the very key that will unravel the mysteries of their imprisonment and the secrets of the Plateaus.
Wheels are turning though, in this world and the last.
Larry Crest awakes by the roadside in the twisted wreck of a car - the sole survivor of a horrific accident. By impossible odds he is alive and unharmed, stumbling from the wreckage with the only clue he has to his past - a battered briefcase, covered in scars. As Larry struggles to learn of the events that brought him here, it seems his path is somehow inexorably linked with the prisoners of that other place. There are bonds and bridges that cannot be severed, as all the while a far crueller soul tears through the desert with a gun in his hand...

About the Author

Benjamin Akira Tallamy (Born April 6th 1984) is a British writer and musician.

Growing up in the sleepy county of Devon, Ben left school at fifteen, notoriously truant throughout much of his education. Exposed at a young age to an abundance of music and literature, Ben was primarily self-educated - encouraged by his loving parents and grandmother to pursue writing.

His first major works were screenplays, but in 2006 Ben completed his first set of novels - The Cold Highways trilogy.

Shortly after their completion, Ben began to focus on his music again - appearing as a founding member of groups such as; The mutineers, The pyrates and Catherine and the owl.
In 2008 Catherine and the owl released a debut EP 'I', which was well-received by local press. This was followed up in 2010 with a second EP 'By your hand I am spared' - for which Ben also produced the artwork.

His debut solo album 'The melody of distaste' was released in 2011, following a humorous Christmas single 'Christmas is a sham - elegy for Aled Jones.' Ben played over nine different instruments on the album, multi-tracking them in live overdubs.

He is currently nearing completion of a second novel, as well as over-seeing the post-production of a feature length comedy, which he co-wrote with his childhood friend Tom Hutchings. Shields of justice will be released later this year.
