About the Author

Dr. Bragg Stockton (1938-2003) had almost four decades of experience in coaching and player development. The former head baseball coach at the University of Houston, Stockton also coached at TCU and on the high school and junior college levels. With 1014 career wins, Stockton had a career 70 percent won-loss record. Eight of his former players have played on the major league level, and 80 have played some level of professional baseball. Bragg Stockton’s Coaching Baseball: Skills and Drills (3rd edition) offers an unequaled system of teaching skills that is designed to lock a player of any age into a proven and reliable path of improvement. His “Skills and Drills” system of drills, training aids, and teaching methodology is based on documented, reliable research gathered over 37 years of working with players from T-ball through college. Coach Stockton was well known among collegiate, high school, and youth league baseball circles as a master teacher of skills and a craftsman of quality ball players. In his impressive career, Stockton wrote several books, including Basic Baseball, The Cardmaster, The Skillmaster, and The Way to Excellence. He also produced two instructional baseball video series, Baseball Skills & Drills and The Ultimate Baseball Training System. He was a member of the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a regular speaker at over 30 state high school clinics. Before starting his coaching career, Stockton played with the Houston Colt .45s (now the Astros).
