Clover's Journey: A Dog's Memoir:
Clover's Journey: A Dog's Memoir was inspired by a real dog's story. Her name was Clover. She was a common dog who lived a regular life and gave joy to a boy and his family. Clover's story began when she was five months old.

She was adopted from a place called Club Pet Adoption Shelter. When Clover was born, she was given to the animal shelter to help her find a forever-home. She found her forever-home with a new friend named Rob. When Rob saw Clover, it was love at first sight. Rob gave Clover a home with his family! Clover did not have to wait long for someone kind like Rob to adopt her.

Clover loved everyone except the mailman. When Rob grew up, he got married and had children of his own. Clover was not just a pet; she was part of their family! She went everywhere with them. She was always very neighborly and loved vacations at the beach.

When Clover got older her body was not working very well and she was very sick. Everyone was sad. Rob's son, had an idea! He said, "All Clover has to do is go back to the wild and she will be fine!" And so, she did. Clover went back to the wild! All animals have a place of love beside a kind Shepherd who lives in the wild. Clover's family misses her. Still, they know Clover is happy in the wild with the Shepherd. She is forever watching over them.

Clover was one of many dogs that come to animal shelters because they don't have a home and await their forever home. The animal shelter that Clover went to was Club Pet Adoptions. Club Pet rescues all kinds of animals, even homeless reptiles. They love all animals!

About the Author

About Mrs. D . . . My name is Mrs. Derrenbacher, but I like to be called, “Mrs. D” because it’s easier for children and parents to remember. For twenty years, I worked as a Children’s Minister in churches teaching children Bible stories about God. For most of my life, I have been an author and an artist too. Now that I am retired, I can do more writing and art. But to children, I will always be known as “Mrs. D” no matter what I do. And lately, I feel God is tickling my feet to do some new and exciting things.

Oh, I forgot to tell you why I wrote Clover’s story. Read on if you want to find out: I have had a love for drawing and writing since I was a young girl, so it was fun for me to write Clover’s story and draw the illustrations. Clover was my Grand Dog and because we loved her, I decided to write her story. When Clover’s family had to go places without her, she would spend the night at Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house (Mr. and Mrs. D). She was friends with our dog, Harlee, too. They liked to go for runs together at the ballfield and dog wrestle. Mr. D and I feel it is very important to give animals a home because there are so many pets that do not have homes. Clover’s Journey: A Dog’s Memoir is not my first book. Two years ago, I wrote and illustrated a book called 40 Days of Love: Poems, Prayers & Ponderings. I think everyone has “art smarts” and I hope you keep exploring your creativity by writing and drawing. Blessings!
Love,
Mrs. D
