About the Author

Yvon Chouinard, a noted alpinist and environmentalist, is the founder and owner of Patagonia, Inc., which Fortune has called “the coolest company on the planet.” He is also the co-founder with Craig Mathews of 1% For The Planet and the author of Let My People Go Surfing and coauthor of The Responsible Company.
 
Dick Dorworth was passionate about ski racing in his youth and set a number of records that stand to this day. His path crossed with several notable climbers and he was sucked into the world of mountain climbing, which he pursued with equal passion. He has written numerous ski articles, and authored three books, Night Driving, The Perfect Turn and The Straight Course.
 
Chris Jones moved to the US in 1965 to work for IBM and then quit in 1967, moved to Yosemite and started to climb full time. Chris has climbed in the British Isles, Europe, the United States, Canada, South America, and Asia. Chris’s book, Climbing in North America, was published in 1975 and received wide acclaim, and is widely regarded among the most influential climbing books.
 
Doug Tompkins is a mountain climber, Deep Ecologist, and forward-thinking businessman. Tompkins was the founder of The North Face and co-owner of the ESPRIT clothing company.
 
Lito Tejada-Flores was born at 13,000 feet in the mountains of Bolivia. Since then he has had an affinity for high places. While primarily a filmmaker, his credits include a three part technical skiing education series Breakthrough on Skis, which is also a book by the same name, he has also authored numerous articles and books on topics ranging from skiing to whitewater kayaking.
