Overview

Claws of the Thunderbird: A Tale of Three Lost Indians. A fast-moving and exciting adventure about three young Indians lost in the wilderness. Not only must they survive on their own, but the three friends must dodge renegade Sioux warriors who want their scalps. Eventually their journey becomes a race against time, because the future of the entire Chippewa Nation is in danger!

Claws of the Thunderbird was written and illustrated by Holland C. Holling, who spent time living with native American Indian tribes. His stories are recommended for their authentic presentation of Indian culture, as well as their beautiful illustrations.

The story was written for ages 12 and up, but all ages have enjoyed Holling's Indians stories for nearly 100 years.

About the Author

Holling C Holling (1900-1973) wrote and illustrated many books. He and his wife Lucille Holling (who was also an illustrator) lived among Native Americans for months at a time, making friends with them and learning their culture. As a result, the Hollings' Indian story books provide authentic cultural presentation. Their books have even been recommended by Native American associations.
