Dezember 1892 in der Zeitschrift "Le Soleil" stattfand. Die erste deutschsprachige Ausgabe erschien 1893 unter dem Titel "Claudius Bombarnac" mit dem Untertitel "Notizbuch eines Reporters". Der englische Titel des Romans lautet "Claudius Bombarnac".
