Because most citizens are unaware of this episode in America's period of slavery, this information is an amazing testimony to the lives of many African-Americans whose ancestors are rooted in Choctaw heritage. About the Author

Family history has been a source of strength and pride for Nita Ighner. For the past 25 years she has dedicated a tremendous amount of time in the fascinating field of Family Research. In doing so, Nita has traveled to one of her discovered root lands of South Carolina - her paternal side of the family - to unearth the Will of her ancestors' Slave Owner. In that record she found the names of her GGGreat Grandfather along with his mother. Also there in the Carolinas, lives a large portion of her family that was not known to her until 10 years ago. She has yet to begin research into the Native American lineage of the Eigner side of her family.
On Nita's maternal side of the family, the Galloways of Arkansas, research has been steady and intense pertaining to the family's Choctaw connection. Needless to say, many hours have been spent on gathering and compiling information concerning the African-Choctaw experience. Instead of filing away the found information, Nita is dedicated to sharing it in her eBook for other family researchers. There's more to come.
Nita Ighner is an Artist and for the past 26 years has been an Associate Professor of American Sign Language in the California College system. Though Genealogy is but one of her passions, it is one of the most fulfilling.
