This so-called one-stop guide to doing business in the last and largest untapped market in the world explains the ins and outs of Chinese culture and economic history. While the stories presented are realistic and well researched, they don’t engage. Without material of substance, narrator John Lescault sounds more like he’s ready to fall asleep than to strike a deal with a Chinese investment company. Lescault's voice is so clear and well pronounced that it actually sounds monotonous and uninteresting. For die-hard business readers looking for an edge over the competition, the more tedious aspects of the performance may not be so glaring. But for most listeners, getting through this entire audiobook without losing focus will prove difficult. L.B.
