Overview

The title is actually a "play on words" from the real meaning of checks and balances used to describe the three branches of the United States government being legislative, judicial and executive. The cover picture shows a bank draft tilting "Lady Justice" to an unbalanced position, demonstating the greed that was the driving force behind what happened to Kent and Glenda Duell in the New York Court System. There's simply no stopping some people who weld government power enough to attempt to destroy people's lives and steal land that the government sets it's sights on and fine them millions of dollars to boot!

About the Author

Born and raised in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, the author, Glenda Duell, grew up in a local Christian church, went to a Christian college and returned home to be the unwitting purchaser of a piece of land with a chronic leaking septic system. Never in a million years did she think she'd go to jail, be potentially fined millions of dollars and be labeled, along with her husband, a felon for life. This author has maintained "a fire in the belly" fight to explain the truth about what happened and why, and to hopefully raise enough money to go to the federal courts to have her and her husband's names cleared of this travesty of injustice. Why should people care? Because it can, will and is happening to other American's who are sitting targets for the egotistically consumed power mongers who have and will use any means to get what they want. Some have said that the only difference between what happened to the Duells and the good people of Ruby Ridge is that the Duell's didn't die.
