"Checkmate" is my response to the racist climate in this country. It was written as scripturally sound to counterpoint against (satanic)enthusiasms for racist ideals. You'll probably never know what it's like to experience these extremes of racisms in this country until you've actually challenged the American system, as a Black man in the name of God. I doubt that many of you have had to deal with these extremes on these levels. While yet even more detrimental to the Black experience is what the Black man does to himself, in spite of white oppression against him. I believe there are many Black people who ascribe to the racial precedent in this country by willful surrender to a second-class status. You see, I've learned a good lesson early on in life on the secrets to the success of racism here in America: racism has a ugly white head, but it also has a rather large black body.
Nevertheless, here is my rendering in response to my unsolicited popularity here in New York City for the past two-and-a-half decades. With what I have been putting down on these city streets, I thought there might be a few of you who'd like to know what's on my mind.
