Chattanooga Hugs
Is it possible to feel like a 30-year-old when you've just entered your 70's? That was Susan P. Spurgeon's experience after retiring to her hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She says that God poked her all her life until she finally said, "Okay, I get your message." A genuine smile lights her eyes as she says that her life has been filled with joy and energy and a fullness of love for others ever since. Her goal, with God's guidance, has been to make guidance, has been to make Chattanooga "the most positively connected city in the United States." Chattanooga Hugs brings people together from all walks of life.
Hugs can come in many forms: physical, virtual, a smile, a kind word. Chattanooga Hugs is a movement that envisions connecting the city another way – with positive words that share love and acceptance of each other. Inspired by the Free Hugs Campaign, it all began with physical hugs. However, that can't spread the connection far enough or fast enough. Chattanooga Hugs takes the approach of spreading love and acceptance through a positive word card attached to a blank card, effectively becoming a verbal hug. Recipients can then put their own positive word to the blank card and pass on the verbal hug to anyone, anywhere, at anytime.
