In India, so far, there is only one book published in English dealing with applied aspects of land snails. The present publication will be the second on this topic and the first giving a consolidated account of all aspects of Giant African Snail. The book lays stress on economic, aspects of this snail and gives a long list of its host plants. Possibility of utilization of the snail's flesh as feed and fertilizer and for human consumption has also been discussed. Results of the researches conducted by the author and his co-workers for 16 years in the Andamans and Delhi, especially the practical approach for the management of this pest, has been given in detail. In the end, suggestions have been made for future work on the land snail problem by the younger generation.
