In what promises to be a journey through those touchstones of consciousness, the chakras, both higher and mundane, is actually a rather tepid walk-through of tried-and-true alternative lore. This ground has been covered thoroughly by others with more scholarship, insight, and practical application. Bruyere’s guided meditations seem halfhearted and uninspired. Production quality is average--even replacing the author with a more skilled voice would not salvage this offering. This is an example of what buyers must beware of in this genre--a quickly tossed-off product with low to middling practical application. D.J.B. © AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
