Overview

Caysee is fourteen and completely self-sufficient: she's lived on her own for three years, has two pets, a tiny library and a sort of steady job. She isn't free however, and unless she rides the Wagon Train (a twenty-first century version of the Underground Railroad) to the Pacific Republic where she can pursue her goals, she'll end up overworked in a parts factory somewhere in the Northern Province. Creating a plausible world in which corporate takeover renders the United States a republic of provinces, Frankie Wallace gives her reader a thought provoking story about the desire and trek for freedom, bound with the timeless truth that friendships provide the support we need for a vibrant life.
