Overview

The young Ri's mother's dying wish is that he do something to stop people from killing, "something that works". In Idaho, a young Native American girl, Lora, is violently raped. Years later, Ri, now a physicist, is frustrated in his attempts to translate the successes of physics to the human sciences. Lora, following tribal traditions has unknowingly promised to mate with her rapist. This is the story of Ri and Lora's stuggle to find love and a new science.

About the Author

Carl Forest was raised by Catholic Nuns at St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Toledo, Ohio. He received a BS in physics from University of Detroit and a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Michigan State University. He worked for NASA, and then taught and researched physics at the University of Idaho and Michigan State University. When the Vietnam War dried up funding for physics, he became a lawyer, receiving a J.D. from Boston University. He is now a partner in the Denver office of Patton Boggs LLP, a Washington, DC based law firm.
