The effervescent and effusive Magliozzi brothers (otherwise known as The Tappett Brothers on their enormously popular NPR program, “Car Talk”) pluck from their greasy toolboxes choice calls that focus on cars and their influence on relationships. That being said, this rollicking yuck-fest, in question-and-answer format between callers and hosts, transforms mundane auto angst into classic radio comedy. Enjoy “Who Gets the Mechanic in the Divorce?” and “Meeting the Perfect Girl . . . in Traffic.” Is it really important that the brothers talk about cars? Listenership to what they call “our lousy radio show” probably wouldn’t dwindle even if they switched to something dull, like . . . car repair. D.J.B. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine
