Overview

After several years of absence, photographer Mia Feinstein returns to South Africa to rediscover the place of her birth – Cape Town. The lens of this talented young artist frames a photographic tour de force: hidden angles surprise, little-noticed features delight and old favourites assume new contexts. From a selection of glorious bird’s-eye views to lively street scenes and close-up portraits, her camera reveals a Cape Town few have seen and even fewer have stopped to admire, making Cape Town Up Close&Personal a richly textured tribute to one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

About the Author

South-African born MIA FEINSTEIN began her photographic career at the tender age of 11 by taking pictures of the family dog. Since then she has snapped the pets of A-list celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley, Jamiroquai and Simon Pegg among others, as well as dogs rescued by the RSPCA, the Dogs Trust, Much Love Animal Rescue and the Retired Greyhound Trust. Widely published in newspapers and magazines both locally and abroad, she has photographed for the National Gallery, Nelson Mandela for Make Poverty History in London, Counting Crows, Lolas Kitchen, Ikamva Labantu, Baphumelele Childrens Home, the British Council and DJ Rui da Silva, to name a few. Her versatile collection ranges from travel images to flowers and marmite; people to cats and cupcakes. In this volume she pays special tribute to the wonderfully diverse city of her birth – Cape Town.
