Overview

"My only goal was to find a missing baby. The drug-addicted parents were in hiding and no one knew if the baby was dead or alive. Standing in the room, court orders in hand, blood splattered along the walls, and the infant nowhere to be found, we made a choice. The consequences of the choice we made together would cause a six-year legal battle, landing me in jail with a conviction and with appeals that would reach the highest criminal court in Texas. But it was the only choice we could make. And it was a choice we believed the court orders fully authorized. We would do whatever was necessary to find the baby. The deputy and I would search the house."
