About the Author

Sonya Contreras grew up living with five sisters. Her mom was like a worker bee who did not quit. She learned not only to rise early to have the bathroom, but that the emotional tension of tight quarters could bring harmony out of chaos-but nothing short of the work of God. Her parents provided stability that showed her a God Who was immutable.
Her high school science teacher taught her to ask God even when she didn't like the answer. He showed her a God Who was faithful.
Studying at Cedarville University and Institute for Creation Re-search Graduate Program grounded her roots in God's truth from His Word and His world. She found that God's power and wis-dom created and sustained.
Teaching high school science opened her eyes to see the suffer-ing of her world: her students, but she also saw a God Who suf-fered with them.
She was thrown into a world of men by her husband and God when they were given eight sons. Only by God's power and pa-tience do she and her husband direct their sons' wanderings in truth and love. Small steps, big hearts, treasured memories. Their eight boys learn to be men with convictions, courage, and skills.
God held her hand as she learned of His steadfastness and faith-fulness. But raising her boys has caused her to grab hold of His Hand and not let go. She has found a God Who wanted her to know Him.
How does she tell about herself? She tells of her God Who is forgiving, faithful, and desires her friendship. She writes of Him and for Him; for without Him, she could do nothing and be noth-ing.
